Ms Laura de Benito-Llopis is a Consultant Ophthalmic Surgeon specialising in laser eye surgery, lens-based vision correction surgery and cataract and corneal transplant surgery. She also specialises in complex cases and makes use all types of intraocular lenses, including premium monofocals, torics, and multifocals.

Ms de Benito-Llopis also specialises in the treatment of keratoconus, Fuchs’ corneal endothelial dystrophy and anterior segment reconstruction. She performs all forms of corneal transplant surgery including DMEK, DSEK, anterior lamellar and penetrating keratoplasties.

Ms de Benito-Llopis completed her ophthalmology residency in Madrid, Spain and was fellowship trained in cornea, lens and laser eye surgery in Madrid and at Moorfields Eye Hospital, London. Ms de Benito-Llopis was awarded a PhD with honours for her thesis on corneal wound healing after laser eye surgery and is considered an expert in the field of surface laser eye surgery. She was appointed substantive consultant in the Cornea, External Disease department and Refractive service at Moorfields Eye Hospital in October 2016.

Ms de Benito-Llopis has published over 35 scientific papers and 12 book chapters. She is regularly invited to speak at international meetings and is involved in teaching on a number of national and international surgical courses. Ms de Benito-Llopis has been awarded a Clinical Excellence Award every year since 2018 in recognition for her work in developing a system to track the outcomes of corneal transplant surgery.

Ms de Benito-Llopis is considered to be kind and approachable by her patients, and many of her new patients come as recommended by her existing patients.
