After 10 years working as a consultant in the NHS he feels ready to take on a new challenge!
In addition to his role as consultant ophthalmic surgeon he is now responsible for the ophthalmology service which spans across 3 sites; Charing Cross Hospital in Hammersmith, The Western Eye Hospital in Marylebone and St Marys Hospital in Paddington.
One of the key aspects of the role is to work with the senior management team to ensure that the service provided is safe, effective and has a great level of patient satisfaction. The major challenge will be to do all of this within a finite ever decreasing budget!
He will lead by example and try and improve morale and motivate the team as well as have an input into training the doctors of the future making sure they have a great training experience.
He has always enjoyed his NHS work and likes the mix of cases that he treats both in the NHS and privately.
His vision is to develop and improve the service making the eye department at Imperial a shining beacon in the World of ophthalmology.
