Book your FREE consultationThe EVO ICL™ (Implantable Collamer Lens) procedure offers a hassle-free alternative to traditional vision correction methods.
This advanced lens, also known as the Implantable Contact Lens, provides freedom from glasses and contact lenses. Suitable for a wide range of prescriptions, the EVO ICL™ is a versatile and effective solution, including for those who are not candidates for LASIK due to high prescriptions or thin corneas.
What is Implantable Collamer Lens surgery?
During the EVO ICL™ procedure, a thin, flexible lens made from biocompatible Collamer material is gently placed inside your eye, in front of your natural lens but behind the iris.
This lens enhances your eye’s focusing power, effectively replacing glasses and contact lenses to provide clear, sharp vision.
One of the key benefits of EVO ICL™ is its reversibility; if your vision changes significantly with age, the lens can be removed or replaced.
The procedure usually takes approximately 10 – 20 minutes and is performed under local anaesthetic with sedation as a day case.
Your surgeon will first create a micro-opening in the cornea. The folded ICL is then injected into the eye, where the ICL will gently unfold. This is then tucked into the correct position between the natural lens and the iris.
The lens design has been optimised since first introduced in the 1990s making the surgery even safer. To date, there have been over 3,000,000 ICLs successfully implanted worldwide.
benefits of ICL
The benefits of ICL surgery at OCL Vision include:
EVO ICL™ represents a revolutionary advancement in vision correction, offering a premium solution for those seeking freedom from glasses and contact lenses. This innovative procedure stands out as a primary choice for vision enhancement, and its unique approach preserves the eye's natural structure while delivering exceptional visual outcomes, making it an attractive option for a wide range of patients.
- Enhanced Vision Clarity: The EVO ICL™ provides sharp, clear vision by improving the eye’s focusing power, often achieving results that surpass those of glasses or contact lenses.
- Reversibility: Unlike some other procedures, the EVO ICL™ is reversible. The lens can be removed or replaced if your vision changes significantly over time.
- Night Vision and Thin Corneas: ICL can facilitate excellent night vision and is a great option for those with thin corneas, who may not be eligible for laser eye surgery.
- Advanced Technology: OCL Vision utilises the latest diagnostic equipment and surgical techniques to ensure precise and effective treatment.
- Fast recovery time: Many patients report drastically improved vision straight after the surgery
- Flexibility: The procedure is suitable for a wide range of prescriptions, including those who may not be candidates for LASIK due to high prescriptions or thin corneas.
Who are Implantable Collamer Lenses suitable for?
Are you a suitable candidate for ICL surgery?
EVO ICL™ is suitable for most vision correction candidates, including those who have a very high prescription and laser eye surgery may be unsuitable because too much of the cornea would have to be treated to achieve good vision. High prescriptions mean very thick lenses and heavy glasses, and sometimes contact lenses may not be an option. ICL surgery is a realistic solution for people with very high prescriptions. EVO ICL™ is an excellent option for severe dry eye patients as it doesn't exacerbate or cause dry eye symptoms. Unlike other vision correction treatments, which can worsen dry eye, EVO ICL™ preserves the cornea's natural structure. Our experienced eye surgeons will examine your eyes thoroughly and recommend the best procedure.
