PresbyMAX® is an advanced laser eye surgery procedure exclusively available on the Schwind Amaris 1050RS laser platform.

Designed to treat presbyopia, also known as 'reading vision problems,' PresbyMAX® can simultaneously correct other vision issues such as myopia (short-sightedness), hyperopia (long-sightedness), and astigmatism (irregular eye shape).

How does PresbyMAX® work?

PresbyMAX® is a quick and precise laser eye surgery that helps improve your vision by extending the depth of focus in your non-dominant eye.

This allows for a smoother transition between seeing things up close and far away.

The procedure is minimally invasive, meaning it doesn't involve touching or replacing the lens of your eye, and it takes just a few minutes to complete. Over 26,000 people with presbyopia have experienced the benefits of PresbyMAX®.

PresbyMAX® works by changing how the cornea, the front part of your eye, handles light. Instead of focusing light from a single point, the laser reshapes your cornea to direct light from multiple points, giving you a clearer range of vision both near and far.

At OCL Vision, we've refined and developed the PresbyMAX® laser treatment to ensure the best and most natural visual results. As one of only five centres worldwide chosen as a reference site for PresbyMAX®, we work closely with Schwind to provide first-class care and state-of-the-art vision correction.

PresbyMAX® FAQs

View knowledge base

What vision problems can PresbyMAX® correct?

PresbyMAX® is designed to treat presbyopia (age-related reading vision problems), as well as other refractive errors such as myopia (short-sightedness), hyperopia (long-sightedness), and astigmatism (irregular eye shape) or a combination of these. This comprehensive approach allows for clear vision at multiple distances.

How long does the PresbyMAX® procedure take and what is the recovery time?

The PresbyMAX® procedure is quick, typically taking only a few minutes per eye. Because it is minimally invasive and does not involve creating a flap or replacing the lens, recovery time is fast. Most people can return to their normal activities within a day or two, with full visual stabilisation occurring over the following weeks.

Am I a suitable candidate for PresbyMAX®?

Suitable candidates for PresbyMAX® are those experiencing reading vision problems (presbyopia), and potentially other refractive errors like myopia, hyperopia, or astigmatism. It is particularly beneficial for individuals looking to reduce their dependence on reading glasses varifocals or bifocals. A comprehensive eye examination at OCL Vision will determine if PresbyMAX® is the best option for your vision correction needs.

What is the cost of a laser vision correction consultation?

Our consultations are free subject to a £50 refundable booking deposit.
